It describes the beauty of a snake and relates an interesting incident in which a snake visits the poet's water trough to quench its thirst. After drinking water it goes back to its hole. At this the voice of poet's education forces him to attack it  and out of sheer fear he hurls a clumsy log at the snake to protest his withdrawal. Immediately repent for his petty sinful act.
