XII Chemistry | Chemistry in Everyday Life | Introduction by Ruchi Ma'am
Class XII - Chemistry
Unit 16 - Chemistry in Everyday Life
Introduction
Introduction - Drugs and Medicines, Chemotherapy, Classification of Drugs
Drugs-Target Interaction - Enzymes as Drug Target - Competitive and Non Competitive inhibitions, Allosteric Sites,
Receptors as Drug Targets - Agonist and antagonist
This video is about Chemistry in Everyday Life. Chemistry influences every sphere of human life. On of the very important application of chemicals in the form of drugs and medicines. The drugs can be classified in different categories on the basis of pharmacological effects, drug action, chemical structure and molecular targets. Enzymes and receptors are molecular targets. Drugs inhibit the enzyme action by competitive inhibition or non competitive inhibition. Drugs targetting receptors may be agonists and antagonists.
This Channel initiated by Dr. D. R. Vij (former Professor of Physics, Kurukshetra University, India) primarily aims at taking free education to the doorsteps of learners who for various economic and social factors can not avail benefits of regular coaching.
In view of the congested classrooms coupled with hefty tuition fee, social taboos and hazards of travelling (for girls in particular) this mode of extending education had become a necessity.
This self-learning approach is a definite step towards democratisation of education i.e. taking education even to individuals who staying in remote and far off areas were being deprived of education for no fault of theirs.

XII Chemistry | Chemistry in Everyday Life | Use of Chemicals in Foods and Drugs by Ruchi Ma'am
Class XII - Chemistry
Unit 16 - Chemistry in Everyday Life
Use of Chemicals in Foods and Drugs
Antiseptics and Disinfectants, Antifertility Drugs, Artificial Sweetener, Food Preservatives
This video explains the use of chemicals as antiseptic, disinfectant and antifertility drugs. Chemicals are also used in food as artificial sweeteners to reduce calory intake. Some chemicals are used as preservatives to increase shelf life of perishable food items.

XII Chemistry | Chemistry in Everyday Life | Cleansing Agents by Ruchi Ma'am
Class XII - Chemistry
Unit 16 - Chemistry in Everyday Life
Cleansing Agents
Soaps and Detergents, Limitations of Soaps, Synthetic Detergents (Soapless Soaps), Cationic, Anionic and Non ionic Detergents
This video is about cleansing agents - soaps and detergents. Soaps are prepared by saponification of fats. The cleansing action of soaps is due to micelle formation . Soaps do not work in hard water due to scum formation. Detergents also known as soapless soaps work in hard water also. Detergents may be anionic (Sodium laurylsulphate), cationic (cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide) or non ionic (ester of stearic acid and polyethylene glycol).
